Courses & Certifications
At the YMCA, we’re committed to growth and development for all. We regularly offer certifications and courses in CPR, First Aid, lifeguarding, swim instruction, and additional health/wellness courses to help our staff and community build skills that make a difference.
Lifeguard Course
Become a certified lifeguard and gain the skills to save lives, respond to emergencies, and build confidence in and around the water.
Pre-Requisite Swim Test
Participants must complete a swim test prior to the course:

Requirements

Ages 15 and older
-
Swim test includes:
-
200-yard swim (front crawl, breaststroke, or combination)
-
Tread water for 2 minutes (legs only)

Timed event (1 min 40 sec):
-
Swim 20 yards
-
Dive to 7 feet and retrieve a 10 lb brick

Swim 20 yards with the brick

Babysitting & Child Training Class
Prepare for your first babysitting job or build your confidence caring for children with the YMCA’s Babysitting & Child Care Training course. This program equips youth with the skills and knowledge needed to be responsible, prepared, and safe caregivers.
