Certifications 

At the YMCA, we’re committed to growth and development for all. We regularly offer certifications and courses in CPR, First Aid, lifeguarding, and swim instruction to help our staff and community build skills that make a difference.

Swim Instructor Course

Participants must be age 16 or older and able to swim 25 yards each of front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and sidestroke. Exceptions may apply; contact Jeanette for details.

April 26, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (includes swim test, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen)
May 1, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
May 2, 11:00 AM – 4:30 PM
May 15, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
May 16, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
May 17, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

$100 for YMCA members and $150 for non-members, plus a $35 online course fee.

​

Materials must be picked up at the Membership Desk before April 21 and reviewed prior to April 26.

​

Course cost reimbursement is available after 90 days of employment as a regularly scheduled swim instructor at the YMCA of Douglas County.
